definitely pro. I can't get enough of how Serg is really calm for one second then screaming his lungs out the next! It's an awesome break from the usual repitition of all the Ozzfest bands you see today. not to mention, serg looks like dylan!

well... I'm gonna go ahead and put my 2 cents in now...
Most of the time music is popular because it is A. Simple and catchy enough for most people who aren't exactly conisseurs of music or B. because it is quality,innovative music that all can enjoy who aren't too stubborn to listen. Listen for a second to SOAD and not just to the ingenius transitions from hard rock to a ballad-esque sound but also to the words. Their music contains lyrically relevance. Like in the song "Pogo" when they use a pogo stick as a metaphor for shooting up heroin.Just look past the fact that they make their money off of wanna-be-Hardcore-stoner-Slipknot kids and listen to the music,its good stuff. Some of the best stuff currently playing on MTV.I'm Pro.

ANTI. Based on the two songs that I've heard. I like Chop-suey, more than I did Sugar (that song was awful). I will give them a slight bit of credit. I like the part where he does the really high ballad part thing, it's soothing. But other than that, I'm not fond 't'all. The only solution here is to rush out and buy there album to make sure that I'm completely anti.

I've only heard "Spiders," which I didn't care for, and their new song "Chop Suey."The new one,I feel,is pretty good,but certainly a perfect example of the problem with music today.As everyone gets more and more attracted to music with either more than one genre involved or a new sort of genre (of which there are now a constant stream) fed to us by lap dog media critics or even layered music like Bjork's new album or OK Computer by Radiohead it seems we're all losing something which we don't even notice we're losing:attraction to music that is simple.While this is one distinct aspect of the punk scene,I for one am not that into punk music in general,though I respect it as a positive influence on music.Looking through my CD collection I can easily see how this addiction to non-simple music is inherently bad for me.
So it is for these reasons I do choose to say that while System of a Down is an "innovative" band and that I'm pro System of a Down,all-in-all this and the sorts of music I mainly listen to detract from musical economy (if there is such a thing) by placing our expectations WAY too high and allowing us to be easily bored by more simple approaches to music.I mean let's face the facts.What would you dub the genre of a band like System of a Down based on Chop Suey?It's not only hard,but one genre name leaves it lacking the other elements not implicit in the genre dubbed it.I dub thee,System of a Down,thee four loco looking Armenian band mates as genre-designate: Manic/Depressive with all sorts of extra syllables,prefixes,suffixes attached likestrings holiding up a puppet and scissors snipping these c(h)ords till only a pile of translucent goo/glue is leftufgbkeugka(Nevermind that last bit)

yeah i know this is also an old topic but i had to comment. anyone who said they didnt like soad based on chop suey or whatever should check out atwa and aerials. i guess i am mostly neutral towards them if it werent for these two songs. check em out and get back to me i wanna know what ya think.

system of a down is crap in my opinion..esp. that fucking annoying "sugar" song. i think there's enough guys that sound like they just got kicked in the balls...shutdown?
